FOREIGN DEGREE COLLABORATIONS

The ADLP Center is using three models of foreign-degree programs: SDSU centers, SDSU partners, and professional organization support.

The SDSU centers (see Intrauniversity Consortium) have study-abroad components. Level 4 programs in Chinese, Farsi, and Spanish use this model.

For Arabic programs, SDSU has current agreements with several Arabic partners. These include (1) The Arab Academy, which offers a variety of programs in Modern Standard Arabic, Quran, Hadith and Sirah and (under development) Business Arabic are being developed for students of all language levels from beginners to advanced; (2) the American University of Beirut, which hosts leading M.A. interdisciplinary degree programs and research in Middle Eastern Studies; (3) the American University in Cairo, which offers degrees in a wide variety of disciplines and teaches very advanced levels of Arabic; and (4) the Hashemite University in Jordan, where students may pursue degrees in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, and Finance.

Farsi-Persian joint-degree programs require a different approach because of the nature of education in Iran. The ADLP Center is committed to establishing placements in Iran through the American Council for International Education, which has established long-standing partnership relations with more than 250 institutions, and maintains 47 support offices in 39 cities staffed by US and local specialists in educational exchange issues.
